Visit and do business in Ireland ?

Yeah, okay.

I want to tell you a secret about doing business in Ireland. But, please remember that this is between us.

Everyone is talking about Forbes’ list of the world’s most innovative companies. Five of the top 10 companies are operating in Ireland.

But what is the reason?

Some people may say that is due to the incentives that Ireland provides (12.5% corporate tax). But the reality is that the value proposition relies on their multicultural and diverse people, IT infrastructure, and track record.

These reasons may have attracted large investments across different sectors. But, Ireland's ambitions for the future are evolving, and they are looking to connect minds to create the future.

If you are a person with high skills in technology or looking to invest abroad. I recommend that you take into account the main sectors that the Irish government is promoting, according to the IDA Ireland (https://www.idaireland.com/):

  • Business Services

There is no doubt that Ireland is one of the leading locations for business services in Europe. We can find companies that serve the global markets with diverse and sophisticated regional services. Nowadays, Ireland's business services firms provide innovative solutions at a convenient cost. Therefore, the shareholder value is very attractive.

We can find leading companies like Accenture, Bertelsmann, Perot, Freightquote, Serco, GLG, Sita, Service Source, and Western Union.

  • Medical Technology and Biopharmaceuticals

The MedTech cluster has become one of the leading medical device producers and the third-largest exporters of pharmaceuticals around the globe (UN International Trade Statistics Database). Mainly because there is a developed cluster in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and diagnostics.

Collaboration has been a key element behind this remarkable growth in a sector that accounts for 39% of national exports (c. €62 bn, CSO 2020).

  • Financial Services

During the last decade, the financial sector has improved its customer service and provided innovative solutions at a reduced cost.

In financial services, more than eight out of ten people working in the sector have a bachelor's degree or higher. The majority of them work in fund management, banking, and insurance. However, the emphasis today goes towards the support of a wide range of operations, from lawyers and accountants to IT providers.

  • Cloud Computing

Ireland is also becoming a big player in cloud computing. It is probably the leader in ICT. Today, technology companies are not only operating in Ireland; they are investing actively in the sector. The goal is to develop the sector in Ireland to become the world leader in Cloud Computing.

We can find companies such as EMC, Citrix, and Dropbox.

  • The Internet of things

This is a trendy and hot topic right now. But it seems that Ireland has the perfect mix to develop feasible and real products. We can find highly skilled people and effective processes that allow the research and development of IoT products. It seems that the goal of Ireland's government is to incentivize start-ups, predictive analytics, research, and M2M to allow the development of new products and services to collect, connect, and transform data.

  • Clean Tech

Ireland is on its way to becoming a major hub for the green economy. For example, Ireland has one of the most ambitious decarbonization plans and already ranks second in Europe in terms of wind and solar energy production per capita. Therefore, it is an appealing location for global companies looking to invest for the first time. Already, 43 percent of Ireland's electricity in 2020 will come from renewable sources, a 20 percent increase over the previous year.

Ireland's Climate Action Plan aims to achieve at least 80% by 2030.

  • Software

As you may already know, Ireland has a reputation as an excellent software provider. The data doesn't lie; the country is the second-largest software exporter in the world. Moreover, 16 out of the 20 leading global technology companies operate in Ireland. I probably don't have to mention their names as everyone knows them (Microsoft, Google, Apple, and Facebook).

However, there are more than the Big Five. Today, Ireland is home to over 900 software companies, including both multinational and indigenous firms, employing 24,000 people and generating €16 billion of exports annually.

  • Cyber Security

Another hot topic and fundamental at this time, what can we say? Six of the top ten cybersecurity software companies are located in Ireland.

These are some of the sectors that I think are the most relevant today. If you want to know more about the subject, I recommend you go and visit https://www.idaireland.com/. Because Ireland is much more than an operational technological cluster that attracts multinationals, The plan, it seems, is to expand its operations and move up the value chain.

So do not hesitate if you are thinking about visiting or doing business in Ireland. It seems like a great choice. They are certainly planning for the future ahead of us.
