Ireland, the next Silicon Valley?
Yeah, okay.
As you probably already know ......
You have probably heard that Ireland is the silicon valley of Europe or the best strategic location for technology companies. But let me tell you that the term was adopted due to the concentration of high-tech companies.
Ireland is home of "the BIG-Five", the top 10 pharmaceutical companies, as well as the top medical technology companies, the top 18 financial services companies, and the top 8 industrial automation companies.
These indicators clearly tell us that something important is happening in Ireland. This is no coincidence and goes beyond positive incentives that favor companies. We are talking about innovation and research.
Today, many of the biggest names in Silicon Valley now call Ireland their home in Europe, such as Microsoft, Google, Dell, Intel, IBM, SAP, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, HubSpot, and PayPal, just to name a few.
I wonder why the vast majority of technology students today dream of finding a job in Silicon Valley when Ireland is a vibrant city that has so much to offer. Why do we have to limit ourselves to dreams that follow the collective narrative?
I don't live in Ireland, but I am sure it is more than a cluster. I believe it is a country that is directing its efforts beyond technology, where creativity and connecting minds play a fundamental role.
This digital transformation of the country could be said to have started in 1980. When Apple (Ireland's oldest and largest tech brand) opened a store.

On several occasions, I've heard that Ireland's success is due to their favorable tax regime. But I believe that Irish success in the technology sector relies on their well-established infrastructure and their access to more than 500 million consumers in Europe. Furthermore, Ireland is stable, safe, competitive, and business-friendly.
But what I really believe has been fundamental to Ireland's success is its people and education. Ireland responded to the competitive economy by having strong relationships between colleges, universities, and businesses. It is fundamental the promotion of research, development, and innovation. Today, Ireland is ranked among the 15 most innovative countries, with 1st place in terms of knowledge dissemination.
Without any doubt, Ireland is one of the most attractive investment destinations in the world and the country with the fastest-growing economy in the Eurozone.

I think Ireland has one of the most effective technology and innovation programs of any country. Ireland is a country with a past, present, and future. Moreover, with a strong capital market, talent pool, and ideal tax regime, It is, for sure, only a matter of time before Ireland becomes stronger than Silicon Valley. Take a change to follow your dreams. Maybe, Ireland is your next destination.
